The main story for the game goes as follows:

You are a civilian on the Interstellar Ship named Voyager. The Interstellar ships were created by the human government to help mankind explore the depths of space. After a jump into a new galaxy, the Voyager is attacked by Alien Pirates of a nearby planet. It would seem that the planets inhabitants never civilized but were able to acquire the knowledge for space travel. This is when you take control of Voyager civilian number-10189.

Depending on how you handle the attack determines what sector you will be recruited into by the Voyager Military. If you perform well enough the game could instantly rank you two ranks ahead of recruit. I still have yet to create a ranking system, but for the moment I am using roman numerals as my ranking system. This is the sectors I have come up with, (so far):
    -Grenadier
    -Medic
    -Technician
    -Machine Gunner
    -Assassin
    -Commando
    -Infantry
    -Sniper
    -Marksman

This list will probably be revised a few times. After defending the Voyager from the Pirate invasion the game begins and there will be a number of different paths for the player to take. If you play good enough, over time you will be promoted, and then eventually you can become promoted to Captain of the Voyager. Once the Captain, you can choose which planets you wish to mine, develop, attack and ect. Or you could become a commanding officer and choose where you will attack on specified planets. Basically I want this game to be completely open and allow for the player to develop his own story.

I also want to set in a random decision system to determine if there is life forms on the random environment generated planets you land on. This system would generate how life forms evolved from the planet they live on, how advanced the life forms became, and whether the life forms will be friendly or hostile towards visitors to their home planet.

I will create roughly 50 different species of extraterrestrial. Each species will have it's own evolution, depending on what area's of technology they study will depend on what kind of technological advancements they have. Each life-form can be found at different ages on their home planet. For example, you might find a species on a planet that is still in a World War without space exploration or vehicles. Others might have already colonized on other planets and may be very advanced. Some might be silicon or phosphorus based other than carbon based, and that could affect how certain weapons effect certain aliens. Also each species will have their own biological organs and systems that work differently than ours. Research to determine what kind of weapons will affect others will need to be conducted and can be done by a medic who finds a dead alien body.

So here are some different technologies t I have come up with:

Computers and A.I.
    -Information Storage
        *Crystal Based
        *Magnetic Based
        *Light Based
        *Physical Switch Based
        *Organically Based
    -Processor Speed
        *Slow
        *Medium
        *Fast (Humans)
        *Instantaneous

Space Travel
    -Max Speed
        *Sound
        *Light
        *Time Travel
        *Wormhole Tech

Weapons
    -Physically Based
        *Thrown (rocks, spears, ect.)
        *Swung (swords, spears, ect.)
        *Stored Launched (springs, magnetic, ect.)
        *Explosive Launch (gunpowder, nitrogen, ect.)
        *Missiles
    -Energy Based
        *Electromagnetic (lasers, microwaves, ect)
        *Magnetic
        *Electrical
        *Heat/Cold
        *Sonicboom/Sound
        *Crystals
        *Plasma (self-sustained)
